Background

Dr. Julien Marquis obtained a Ph.D. in Law in 2016 (summa cum laude), after his studies in Geneva and Bern. He worked as a research and teaching assistant at the Public Law Departement of the University of Geneva until 2015.

In parallel to his studies and academic activities, Julien Marquis had an experience as an intern at the Parliamentary Services of the Swiss Parliament in Bern and worked as the assistant of a group of deputies from the Grand Council, the Parliament of Geneva. In 2012-2013, he also went on to serve as an intern and for a short mission at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

Julien Marquis joined the firm in March 2016 as a trainee lawyer under the direction of Me Lionel Halpérin and Me Anouchka Halpérin. He was admitted to the Geneva Bar in October 2017 and joined the firm as an associate in February 2018. As of 1 January 2021, he is practicing as a counsel.

Julien Marquis provides legal advice and acts as a litigation lawyer in various areas, notably in the areas of criminal law (criminal law in general and international mutual legal assistance in criminal matters) and public law (e.g. human rights law, constitutional law, administrative law), as well as in the field of civil litigation (e.g. contract law, family law).
